Agriculture Extension

As a demand-driven agricultural extension firm, it’s in our interest to develop the skills of local farmers by providing access to information, technical support, resources, and opportunity.  Our offerings range from seminars on simple yield-enhancing techniques for soil growing to comprehensive training on aquaponics and other revolutionary agricultural methods. The curriculum is designed to transition our students from vulnerable rain-fed agriculture to productive year-round growing.  Those who wish can join our innovative out-grower program to receive maximum education, constant support, and a guaranteed market.

Focus: Tomatoes in Ghana

Due to parallel problems of infrastructure, seasonality, and price, Ghana’s urban centers face a perennial shortage of tomatoes during the dry-season months of December through May. To fill the gap, Ghana imports up to 100,000 tons of tomatoes annually from neighboring Burkina Faso – plus significant imports from several other countries.  SOLVE is tackling the root issues by constructing low-cost, high-yield tomato farms near cities, which produce food year-round using aquaponics.  The first farm, already yielding fruit just outside of Accra, can produce 120 tons of fresh tomatoes per year.
